– Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde declared that the result of the suspected Coronavirus was negative.
The first case of Coronavirus in Oyo state has turned out to be negative. This was disclosed by the state governor, Governor Seyi Makinde while addressing the journalists after the inaugural meeting of the state’s COVID-19 Task Force.
He urged residents not to panic over the disease, but constantly observe hygienic practices, as prescribed by medical experts.
He assured the residents of the state that the government will do all it takes to see that no life is lost to the deadly virus.
According to Guadian, Governor Makinde declared that as part of immediate efforts to curtail and control the pandemic in the state, the government would activate Emergency Operation Centres and a Diagnostic Centre, adding that the Maternal and Pediatrics Centre, Olodo, Ibadan, has been re-designated as the State Infectious Disease Hospital.
He said two ambulances would be on standby to attend to cases of Coronavirus suspects, even as he noted that Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers, in all the 33 local governments and Local Council Development Areas have continued their surveillance activities
The Governor also maintained that schools in the state would remain closed till after Easter and that the state would make the closure of worship centers and religious gatherings voluntary, advising that not more than 50 people are gathered in the same place at once.
Coronavirus is the biggest problem the world is bating right now. The Virus which was believed originated in Wuhan, a Chinese city has killed more than 7,000 and infected over 170,000 people. The pandemic virus is yet to have a cure.
